May feels like it has really come quickly this year. April is my birth month, and while I feel I'm getting to that age of not really celebrating, I did have the itch to hit the road. So off to Kingston I went to see family, and 'get away' from my computer for 2 whole days. It turns out, I missed a lot while I was gone! Of course, I planned in advance, and had the photographers out in full force to cover many of the events.

It's mind blowing how many charity events happen in our communities. Many events that happened in late April will not be seen in Georgian Life until the June issue because of print deadlines. So if you don't see yourself in this May issue, sit tight, and pick up the June issue to see your happy, smiling faces! Spring is the time when we all transition from winter to summer and I am welcoming spring with open arms before the summer heat wave hits us. I hiked up Blue Mountain for the first time this year and the trilliums were in full bloom, as well as many other beautiful plants that I could not identify. The creek was raging and the birds were singing. We're so blessed to live in this area, with the mountains: the water: the network of trails: and the multitude of things they offer at our doorsteps.

I am proud to say that I have been nominated by the Collingwood Chamber of Commerce for the Small Business of the Year Award. I want to take this time to thank the whole team for making Georgian Life amazing! In three short months, the publication has really come a long way, and you all deserve the recognition, and a big thank you from me! Just being nominated says something. It tells me that people believe in Georgian Life and continue to pick it up to read about the interesting people who live here and of course, hopefully, spot themselves in the publication!
Happy May everyone.
See you out there!
Selena
