Service above self, the Rotary International motto was played out beautifully as HHART (Hispaniola Humanitarian Assistance and Relief Team) volunteer teams helped improve the lives of forgotten and impoverished people of Haitian descent living in the bateys (makeshift villages) of Dominican Republic. Two groups of volunteers made up of medical doctors, dentists, hygienists, carpenters, photographers, students and nurses helped Team Leader, Steve Wallace, accomplish amazing goals like installing solar lights, electrical panels, water filtration systems, etc. Bryan Davies, a local photographer was part of this effort once again to document the trip and provide printed family portraits to people who have never before seen themselves in a picture.
