In conjunction with National Bowls Day (June 4), the Stayner Lawn Bowling Club held an Open House welcoming all ages and levels of experience to get out on the green and “give it a try.” The club, established in 1924 and soon to celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2024, is managed and maintained by a dedicated group of volunteer bowlers. The facility is located at 205 Ontario Street in Stayner. The Club House is equipped with a kitchen and washrooms with indoor and outdoor seating and has eight bowling “rinks. One of the best things about lawn bowling is that it doesn’t require a lot of expensive equipment; they lend you the bowls to play. The game provides low impact exercise so great for all ages in a fun and relaxing social atmosphere. For more information, check out the club’s website at www.staynerlawnbowlingclub.ca, follow them on social media or drop by and “Give it a Try” as it may just bowl you over!
