What is a Habitat ReStore and how does it help my community?

Habitat for Humanity ReStore is a home and building supply store that accepts and resells quality new and used building materials. Shopping at the Habitat ReStore is a socially conscious decision, as funds generated are used to fund local Habitat for Humanity homebuilding projects. It’s also an environmentally conscious decision, as much of what is sold is product that is new, gently used or customer returns that would otherwise end up in a landfill.

Every Habitat ReStore is different, offering a unique shopping experience for those looking to add something new to their homes. The inventory is always changing, as new items are donated by local residents and businesses daily. Consumers can expect to find items such as home décor, windows, doors, paint, hardware, lumber, tools, lighting fixtures, furniture and appliances.

Canada produces more garbage per capita than any other country. We’re on a mission to change that. Here’s how:

• We’ll pick up your old kitchen for free (and you’ll receive a charitable receipt!)

• We’ll take your gently used furniture and household items and give them a new life.

• We’ll tale your Electronic Waste (keep them out of a landfill)

• We’ll take your excess or discontinued store inventory (plus, your donation shows your customers that you care about the environment and your community.)

Your ReStore purchase builds the story of home:

Every purchase offers new opportunity.

Proceeds from the sales at Habitat ReStore helps fund Habitat for Humanity’s mission: to bring communities together to help families build strength, stability and self-reliance through affordable homeownership.

Why be a conscious shopper?

Purchasing sustainable goods is a wonderful way to make an environmentally friendly choice. You’re choosing to give a new life to an item, while also saving money and supporting a good cause.

You’re also likely to find unique pieces. There are so many one-of-a-kind items that are difficult to find in other places. You’re also helping to reduce, reuse and recycle.

Unleash your Inner Artist

One of the best parts of shopping Habitat ReStore is the treasure you’ll find when you see the potential of items and revive them. You can take a dresser and by adding some paint, or new knobs, you’ve got an original, one of a kind piece that you can either keep or even resell! DIY projects are a fantastic way to reduce, reuse and recycle.
