Great things don’t just happen. It takes a bold, forward-thinking vision to achieve larger than life goals. These are attributes we see in Raymond Hardisty. Over the years, Raymond has steadfastly worked to achieve his goal to give back to SickKids Hospital. He has met numerous fundraising targets but never resting on his laurels, he consistently moves the goal higher. Today, Raymond is close to hitting his current $100,000 target and we have no doubt that he will set a new higher goal as soon as this happens.
The man who founded Lions Clubs International over 100 years ago was Melvin Jones, a salesman from Chicago, IL. He had a bold, forward-thinking vision. It was a vision of global service that led to the creation of Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF). It is through LCIF that over 1.4 Million Lions today, fund the work undertaken by Lions Clubs International around the world to: reduce diabetes, prevent avoidable blindness, fight hunger, protect our environment, and help those affected by childhood cancer survive and thrive.
To recognize Melvin Jones’ contribution to forming LCIF, they created a program to acknowledge the contribution of local Lions Clubs who donate to support the foundation. For every US$1,000 the club donates, we can name an individual as a Melvin Jones Fellow in recognition of the recipient’s humanitarian service. The Stayner Lions Club is pleased to name Raymond Hardisty a Melvin Jones Fellow, recognizing his fundraising work in support of SickKids Hospital and the kids and families they help.
