The Town of Collingwood initiated a pedestrian walkway pilot project on Simcoe Street between Hurontario Street and Ste. Marie Street and also Simcoe Street between Ste. Marie Street and St. Paul Street on Saturday, July 25th, from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM to allow for additional space for pedestrians, cyclists, and business owners to offer their goods for sale or expand a patio. After the stresses of the past few months, it was refreshing to see people out
strolling the Art District visiting with local artists and artisans and enjoying a meal and drinks on the patios. People were for the most part respectful of others and followed the appropriate health and safety protocols in place. Let’s hope that the Town of Collingwood decides to extend this pilot project through the rest of the summer and into the fall. I think we all need it! Photos/Story: Dave West Photography.
